Critics of the meeting noted that the official statements largely omitted several key regional actors and events. Specifically, the declarations did not address the October 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas, nor did they call for the dismantling of Palestinian terrorist groups. Furthermore, there were no formal demands regarding the influence of Iran or its regional affiliates, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen, despite their roles in regional destabilization and attacks on international shipping and neighboring states.
