Arab Traffic Heads Conference opens in Tunis
The 22nd Arab Conference of Heads of Traffic Authorities has commenced at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in Tunis. The two-day event includes representatives from various Arab nations and the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences.
Mohamed bin Ali Kouman, Secretary-General of the Council, emphasized the urgent need to reduce traffic accidents, which cause thousands of deaths and tens of billions of dollars in material losses annually. Statistics from ten member states indicate approximately one million accidents, resulting in nearly 11,000 deaths and 120,000 injuries, with roughly 90 percent attributed to human error.
The conference aims to discuss the creation of an analytical Arab traffic database, unify regional awareness campaigns regarding road safety, and exchange successful experiences in traffic regulation and accident reduction.
