Arabul Islam’s car attacked in West Bengal after quitting ISF

Former Indian Secular Front (ISF) leader and ex-Trinamool Congress MLA Arabul Islam was targeted in an attack in Bhangar, West Bengal, on Saturday night. As Islam was returning home from a hospital, his vehicle was reportedly struck by bricks and two crude bombs were hurled at the car in the Uriapara area.

While the bombs exploded on the road without hitting the vehicle, the brick attack shattered the car’s glass. No injuries were reported, and the driver managed to speed away from the scene.

The incident occurred one day after Islam announced his resignation from the ISF, citing dictatorial behavior within the party leadership. Islam has alleged that ISF workers were responsible for the attack, specifically naming Bhangar MLA Nawshad Siddiqui.

Polerhat police have launched an investigation and are currently examining CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. As of Sunday, no arrests or detentions have been made.
