Aracaju school uniform contracts investigated amid nepotism allegations

The Civil Police of Sergipe opened an inquiry into the municipal school uniform contracts of Aracaju after allegations that the supplier, valued at over R$4 million, is linked to the former municipal Secretary of Public Security, André David, whose sister‑in‑law owns the company. David, who recently left office to run for the Senate, is accused of using personal connections to secure the contract. The investigation will examine procurement documents and testimonies to determine whether the bidding process was influenced by these family ties. Approximately 30,000 municipal students are set to receive the new uniforms, and residents have expressed concern that any irregularities could affect both the quality of the clothing and public confidence in local governance. If misconduct is confirmed, involved parties could face administrative, civil, or criminal penalties, including possible suspension of political rights.
