Aracruz: Port worker Douglas Santos fatally shot in company parking lot

On August 1, a subcontracted employee, Douglas Santos, was shot dead in the parking lot of a port‑related company in Barra do Sahy, Aracruz, Espírito Santo. Video footage shows Santos on the ground before the gunman, appearing in uniform, fires additional rounds and flees. Police say the incident followed a dispute between two workers after the shift ended, during which the armed assailant opened fire, killing Santos and wounding another employee who was later taken to a local hospital.

The Military Police launched a search for the suspect, who remains at large. The case is being investigated by the Specialized Homicide and Personal Protection Division in Aracruz, with the victim’s body sent to the regional forensic office in Linhares for autopsy. A funeral is scheduled for the following day.
