Aracruz residents push MP to enforce environmental recovery plan
Residents of the Villa Santi neighbourhood in Aracruz, Espírito Santo, are preparing a new representation to the Ministério Público do Espírito Santo (MPES) to demand that CBL Desenvolvimento Urbano implement the Plano de Recuperação de Área Degradada (PRAD) that was approved for the Villa Santi II development. The community says the developer never carried out the plan, which called for planting native species on more than 20,000 m² of degraded land, and that the existing vegetation has since been removed.
The complaint also expands to allege broader environmental impacts from the subdivision, including alleged disturbances to permanent preservation areas and wetland zones. Residents say they have already notified the MP about the non‑compliance and now aim to compel the authorities to enforce the recovery measures outlined in the PRAD.
