Arad drug trafficking ring exploits minors for cannabis distribution

Authorities in Arad, Romania, have uncovered a drug trafficking network involving the exploitation of minors. A 10-year-old boy was used by his parents to transport cannabis to various clients within the city. The child has been taken into state care by the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC).

The boy was part of a larger 10-person criminal group that traded cannabis and crystal drugs, with transaction amounts ranging from 100 to 1,400 lei. Seven members of the group have been arrested.

This case highlights a growing trend of adult criminals manipulating minors to expand illegal activities. Similar incidents were reported in Brașov, where teenagers aged 15 and 17 were caught selling cannabis. Experts note that the decreasing age of drug users reflects deep-seated social issues and instability within families, calling for increased systemic social intervention and preventative programs.
