Arad launches AR-STOP project to combat human trafficking

The AR-STOP project, a specialized initiative to combat human trafficking, has launched as a collaborative effort between the Arad County Police Inspectorate in Romania and the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova.

Funded by over 600,000 euros in non-reimbursable European funds, the project focuses on training operational police officers to identify and assist victims during their initial contact with law enforcement. Arad was selected as the project hub due to its strategic position as a major land and rail border crossing.

Officials emphasized that trafficking networks frequently change methods and operate across borders, often recruiting in Moldova and using Romania as a transit country before transporting victims to destinations such as Germany, the Netherlands, or the United Kingdom. The initiative aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation to better identify and support victims within these transnational criminal networks.
