Romania reports multiple road accidents and traffic incidents

Romania has experienced a series of road accidents, weather-related hazards, and traffic incidents across various regions.

Severe weather on the A1 highway toward Pitești caused green separators to be blown onto the roadway, creating hazards for drivers amidst heavy rain and reduced visibility. In other regions, multiple collisions occurred, including a four-car pileup near Târgu-Neamț and a five-car accident on the A2 highway near Medgidia, which resulted in at least four injuries and traffic diversions.

Law enforcement reported several criminal incidents involving vehicles. In Bucharest, a 24-year-old driver was detained after hitting a pedestrian and fleeing the scene. In Arad, a collision involving a police vehicle resulted in injuries to a child, a man, and an officer. Other incidents included a driver in Sângeorz-Băi operating under the influence with a suspended license, and a high-speed police chase in Satu Mare where a vehicle struck a police car.

Public health concerns were also noted, with reports from Iași indicating nearly 180 children have been hospitalized this year due to scooter and bicycle accidents. Additionally, a 57-year-old man passed away in Slatina from burns sustained during a house fire in Caracal.
