Aragón income gap reaches 13,000 euros between Cuarte and Caspe

Data from the Tax Agency and Fedea for the end of 2023 reveals a significant income gap between municipalities in Aragón, Spain. The disparity between the highest and lowest earning towns with more than 5,000 inhabitants exceeds 13,000 euros.

Cuarte de Huerva, located in the Zaragoza metropolitan area, leads the region with an average income per filer of 29,598 euros. This high figure is attributed to its proximity to the capital, residential growth, and a workforce with highly qualified profiles. In contrast, Caspe recorded the lowest average income in the sample at 16,540 euros.

While aggregate economic inequality in the community has decreased, the territorial fracture remains evident at the municipal level. The data highlights a divide between the economic concentration around the Ebro river and the Zaragoza metropolitan area versus rural economies facing demographic decline.
