Aragón ranks among Spain's top three regional economies

According to a report by the Banco de España titled ‘Dinámicas de convergencia regional en las principales economías europeas’, Aragón has emerged as one of the top three regional economies in Spain. The study, which analyzed 98 regions across Spain, Germany, France, and Italy between 1998 and 2025, places Aragón in a high-performing group alongside Madrid and the Basque Country.

Aragón has notably displaced Catalonia from the third position in terms of economic dynamism. The report attributes this growth to the expansion of major industrial, technological, energy, and logistics projects. Key drivers include the arrival of multinational data center projects and the consolidation of the automotive industry, specifically through the Figueruelas gigafactory promoted by Stellantis and CATL.

The Banco de España notes that regional economies do not converge toward a single income level but rather into groups with similar structural characteristics. The effectiveness of physical capital investment in these regions is heavily dependent on human capital levels and the ability to integrate technological advancements.
