Aragon and Navarra announce winter road safety measures

The regional government of Aragon has announced a significant budget increase for its Directorate General of Roads and Infrastructure, projecting a rise from 80.26 million to 159 million euros by 2027. This 113% increase aims to improve the 5,700-kilometer road network and fulfill commitments under the Extraordinary Road Plan (PEC), which is currently 82% executed. For the 2026-2027 winter season, Aragon will deploy 69 snowplows, 160 professionals, 53 salt depots, and 18 meteorological stations to ensure safety from December 1 to March 31.

In Navarra, authorities have launched the 2026-2027 winter road operation, scheduled to run from November 1 to April 30. The plan covers 3,957 kilometers of roads, including concessions such as the AP-15, A-12, A-21, and the recently added AP-68. The operation utilizes personnel from the Directorate General of Public Works and Infrastructure, alongside conservation companies and local police forces. Coordination is managed 24/7 through the Road Conservation Control Center.
