Aragon government stops weekly payments to unaccompanied foreign minors
Vice‑president and regional minister Alejandro Nolasco of the Vox‑led Aragon government ordered the termination of weekly allowances paid to unaccompanied foreign minors housed in regional reception centres. The payments, fixed at €17 per minor each week, amounted to an annual expenditure of €180,000 and had no formal regulatory basis. An internal audit by the Department of Deregulation, Social Welfare and Family identified the cost and prompted the change. Nolasco justified the move by noting the saved funds could cover up to seven new places in elderly residential care. The instruction to end the allowances was coordinated with the department’s director general, Raúl López, and the manager of the Aragon Institute of Social Services, Marta Tejero.
