Aragon Justice dismisses Matarraña waste management complaint

The Justice of Aragon has dismissed a complaint filed by residents of the Matarraña region regarding the door-to-door waste collection and management service. The complaint, initially brought by residents of Valdeltormoy, sought greater transparency concerning service operations, costs, and tariffs.

Following an investigation and a report from the regional institution, the dismissal follows clarifications regarding rising waste management costs. The Comarca del Matarraña reported that the cost of depositing residual waste in landfills has increased significantly, rising from 28.76 euros per ton in 2022 to a projected 105.90 euros per ton in 2024. This surge is attributed to higher landfilling costs and new waste taxes established by Law 7/2022.
