Araguatins merchants protest Ecosol Fair relocation

Merchants of the Solidarity Economy Fair (Ecosol) in Araguatins held a protest on Wednesday to oppose the relocation of their activities to the Setor Feirinha area. The move, prompted by the construction of a new bus terminal, has reportedly led to a decrease in foot traffic and sales, threatening the livelihoods of local producers and artisans.

Protesters occupied part of the Avenida Araguaia central median to demand a solution from the municipal government. The Military Police were called to clear the area. While merchants claim they have been unable to reach an agreement with Mayor Aquiles da Areia, the City Hall has not yet released an official position regarding the claims or potential alternatives for the fair's operation.
