Çarşamba flooding damages agricultural lands and homes in Samsun

Heavy rainfall in the Çarşamba district of Samsun has caused significant flooding across approximately 30 neighborhoods located between the Samsun-Ordu highway and the sea. The flooding has impacted both residential areas and agricultural lands, including houses, barns, and various crops.

Agricultural officials, including Samsun Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Kemal Yılmaz, are conducting damage assessments. Initial observations indicate damage to hazelnut orchards, vegetable greenhouses, watermelon, melon, and corn fields. Technical teams are performing preliminary inspections in areas where water has not yet receded, with more comprehensive assessments planned once the water levels drop.

For producers covered by Agricultural Insurance (TARSİM), damages will be compensated following expert evaluations. Officials have emphasized the importance of agricultural insurance to protect livelihoods against such natural disasters.
