Aramco extends Jazan refinery shutdown following new attack

Saudi Aramco has extended the shutdown of the Jazan refinery until August 30 following a new drone attack by Sanaa forces. The facility, which has a production capacity of 400,000 barrels per day, has been offline since July 27 due to significant damage sustained during a large-scale attack earlier in the month.

The Saudi Ministry of Energy confirmed that fire crews managed to extinguish a fire that broke out at one of the refinery's facilities on Sunday. This recent incident appears to have forced the postponement of the refinery's initial restart date, which was previously expected by mid-August.

The continued outage of the Jazan refinery impacts the supply of petroleum derivatives to the local market and represents a significant economic disruption. The refinery's June exports averaged approximately 170,000 barrels of refined products per day.
