Aran President Naddeo suggests public sector model for private sector labor

Antonio Naddeo, president of the Agency for Negotiating Representation (Aran), stated that the public sector could serve as a model for the private sector regarding labor relations. Speaking at a conference in Rome titled ‘Living from one’s own work. Salary, dignity and the promise of Article 36,’ Naddeo highlighted the stability of the public employment system.

He noted that the public sector benefits from certain rules regarding union representativeness and contractual certainty. Unlike the private sector, which faces challenges regarding minimum and fair wages, the public sector utilizes collective agreements that are applicable ‘erga omnes’ (to all), providing a structured framework for negotiations.
