Aranjuez Royal Palace and gardens offer historical landscape tours
The Royal Site of Aranjuez, located along the Tagus River, features extensive historical gardens and architecture recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape.
The Royal Palace of Aranjuez is noted for its Herrerian-style architecture and interior treasures, such as the Porcelain Cabinet, which features walls and ceilings covered in pieces from the Royal Factory of Buen Retiro. Other notable interior spaces include the Hall of Mirrors and the Gala Dining Room.
The surrounding landscape includes several distinct garden areas. The Prince's Garden (Jardín del Príncipe) covers 145 hectares and was completed during the reign of Charles IV, featuring eight different garden sections, marble fountains, and the Royal Boat Museum. The Island Garden (Jardín de la Isla) is a Renaissance-style space shaped by the Tagus River, containing mythological fountains and the Cascada de las Castañuelas. Additionally, the Parterre Garden offers a geometric layout directly in front of the palace's eastern facade.
