Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple to host Ashtami Rohini Vallasadya feast

The Ashtami Rohini Vallasadya festival is scheduled to take place at the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple. The event, which celebrates the birthday of Lord Krishna, involves elaborate preparations to serve a feast to approximately 50,000 people, including devotees and members of 52 palliyoda karas.

A significant part of the ritual involves the offering of palathairu, which is curd served in traditional palm-leaf containers. This year, approximately 1,500 litres of curd were offered, prepared at the Vazhoor Sree Theerthapada Ashram. The offering was made by the ashram head, Vazhoor Prajnanananda Theerthapada Swamiji.

Rituals are set to commence at 12 noon on Ashtami Rohini day. Travancore Devaswom Board President K. Jayakumar will light the ceremonial lamp at the Anakkottil to begin the festivities. The community feast will utilize 501 paras of rice and is served in the temple courtyard and dining hall.
