Arapiraca hosts preparatory meeting for IBGE Agricultural Census

The municipality of Arapiraca hosted a preparatory meeting for the 12th Agricultural, Forestry, and Aquaculture Census, to be conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The meeting included local government officials, IBGE representatives from Alagoas, and members of various agricultural and environmental agencies.

Arapiraca will serve as a census post, coordinating activities for the neighboring municipalities of Feira Grande and Lagoa da Canoa. A working group consisting of public authorities and civil society will support a team of 33 enumerators and eight technical staff members.

The census is scheduled for June 2027 and aims to collect data on rural production across all 5,569 Brazilian municipalities to guide public policy and economic investment in the agricultural sector.
