Arapongas police intervene in domestic dispute and bar shooting

On July 4, 2026, the Polícia Militar responded to a domestic dispute in the Araponguinha neighborhood of Arapongas after residents reported hearing a mother and son arguing. Officers found the son intoxicated and verbally abusive; the mother declined to pursue criminal charges, and the police recorded the incident and provided guidance.

Later that night, around 21:00, police were called to Avenida Siriema in the Jardim do Sol district after gunshots were heard outside a bar. A off‑duty military police officer, acting in plainclothes, detained a man who had fired a Taurus .380 pistol. The weapon, loaded with eight rounds and two partially discharged cartridges, was recovered. The suspect was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and for discharging a weapon in a public place. Investigation of the motive continues.
