Rio de Janeiro man arrested for driving cloned R$ 150,000 luxury car

A man was arrested in Rio de Janeiro after being caught driving a cloned luxury vehicle valued at approximately R$ 150,000. The suspect admitted to purchasing the car for only R$ 10,000 in cash following an advertisement on Facebook Marketplace.

Police investigations by the Delegacia de Roubos e Furtos de Automóveis da Capital (DRFA-CAP) revealed that the vehicle's license plates were fake and that the chassis and engine markings had been tamered with through re-stamping. Forensic analysis allowed authorities to recover the vehicle's true identification.

The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into criminal profiles on social media that advertise stolen luxury cars at significantly below market value. These profiles are reportedly active for short periods, between 30 and 60 days, to evade detection. The suspect has been charged with operating a vehicle with tampered identification markers.
