Araquari court orders indemnity for nursing technician assaulted in health unit

A court in Araquari, Santa Catarina, has ordered a woman to pay approximately R$ 3,585 in compensation to a nursing technician who was assaulted at a health unit in September 2024. The indemnity includes R$ 3,000 for moral damages and R$ 585 to cover the repair of a mobile phone that was thrown to the ground and damaged during the incident.

During the attack, the technician also suffered abrasions on her right arm. While the defense argued that the aggressor lacked discernment due to a severe psychiatric crisis characterized by impulsivity and a loss of contact with reality, the court ruled that this condition did not exempt her from the obligation to repair the damages caused. The judge noted that the individual was an adult and was not under legal guardianship at the time of the event.
