Campo Grande intensifies Aedes aegypti combat efforts
The Municipal Health Secretariat (Sesau) in Campo Grande is intensifying efforts to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Despite a significant decrease in dengue notifications compared to the previous year, health officials remain vigilant as the rainy season approaches.
In 2026, Campo Grande recorded 1,614 dengue notifications, a notable drop from the 4,603 cases reported during the same period in 2025. The city has also documented 43 confirmed cases of chikungunya and one case of zika, with no deaths from arboviruses reported so far this year.
To prevent a resurgence caused by heat and accumulated water, the Municipal Committee for Combating Arboviruses is organizing community mobilization, educational activities, and cleaning drives. These actions involve partnerships between municipal secretariats, the Army, neighborhood associations, and the private sector to identify high-risk areas and eliminate breeding sites.
