Araripina homicide investigation leads to three arrests

The Civil Police of Pernambuco launched ‘Operação Desnós’ on September 25, 2026, to investigate the homicide of Luís Wendel Batista. The victim's body was discovered on June 9 in the rural area of Araripina.

The operation resulted in three temporary arrest warrants and several search and seizure warrants. Two suspects were apprehended in Araripina, while a third was located in São João d’Aliança, Goiás. The arrest in Goiás was coordinated between the Civil Police of Pernambuco and the Civil Police of Goiás. Authorities also seized a mobile phone relevant to the investigation.
