Arash Ebrahimi Far captured in Colombia

Arash Ebrahimi Far, an Australian-Iranian citizen known by the aliases ‘Ash’ and ‘The Kid’, has been captured in Colombia. Authorities allege Far is a high-value target who has been in hiding since December 2018.

Far was detained by Colombian National Police and DIJIN officers, with support from the Australian Federal Police, in the Copacabana region. He was apprehended while attempting to leave a hospital where he had been receiving treatment for gunshot wounds sustained days prior.

According to an INTERPOL Red Notice, Far is accused of holding a leadership role in a transnational criminal organization involved in drug trafficking and money laundering. Investigations suggest the group used encrypted communication platforms to coordinate narcotics trafficking and manage illicit economic resources. Far is currently awaiting possible extradition, though no timeline has been established.
