Arashiyama Bamboo Forest to host Tsukidoro light festival in 2026

The Arashiyama Tsukidoro light festival is scheduled to take place in Kyoto's Arashiyama Bamboo Forest from September 30 to November 8, 2026. The event will transform the landscape from a daytime walking path into a nocturnal experience by illuminating the central bamboo path and surrounding areas.

The festival features a bamboo corridor with light objects, fog installations, and lanterns that were crafted by local residents in workshops. The event area is divided into a free-access section and a paid section. The illumination is designed to follow the natural course of the bamboo stalks, integrating the lighting with the specific geography of the Ukyo district and the Saga Tenryuji area.
