Aratas Corporation launches following Omron component business sale
Omron has completed the sale of its electronic components business, which has transitioned into a new entity named Aratas Corporation. Following a planned spin-off on July 1, 2026, the final transfer of shares to a subsidiary of the Carlyle Group was finalized on October 1, 2026. Omron retains a 5 percent stake in the new company.
Headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, Aratas Corporation is led by President and CEO Masahiko Ezaki. The company employs approximately 6,000 people and operates eight production sites across Japan, Greater China, and Malaysia, producing roughly 2.2 billion units annually. The business focuses on switching, connecting, and sensing technologies.
The divestment allows Omron to refocus its portfolio on industrial automation, healthcare, social systems, and data solutions. In its recent quarterly report, Omron reported a revenue of 209.9 billion JPY and an operating profit of 18.9 billion JPY, subsequently raising its operating profit forecast for the 2027 fiscal year to 80 billion JPY.
