Arauco's Projeto Sucuriú reaches 70% completion in Brazil
Arauco’s Projeto Sucuriú, located in Inocência, Mato Grosso do Sul, has reached 70% completion and is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2027. Estimated at R$ 25 billion, the project is considered the largest single-line cellulose factory in the world and is expected to generate up to 20,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The construction phase has already mobilized over 14,000 workers and surpassed one million hours worked. The scale of the project has significantly impacted the local economy, with the workforce exceeding the total population of Inocência.
Additionally, the project received two awards from the Brazilian Technical Association of Cellulose and Paper (ABTCP) in 2026. Arauco was recognized in the Natural Resources and Bioeconomy category for using thermal drones to monitor primates, and in the Technology and Digital Transformation category for its “Reliability Nexus” project, which manages maintenance strategies for the future facility.
