More than 1,500 students in the 4th and 5th grades from both municipal and private schools are participating in the 2026 edition of the Jogos Mirins de Araucária (JOMA). The event, held from September 21 to 25 at the Ginásio Joval de Paula Souza and the Centro Social Urbano, features eight different modalities: basketball, tug-of-war, hunter, futsal, memory games, balance tower, mini-volleyball, and a scavenger hunt.
The official opening ceremony took place on Friday, September 18, featuring school parades, athlete oaths, and a symbolic torch relay. The program also included performances by the Arlindo Druszcz Municipal School fanfare and a capoeira team. In addition to the youth participants, athletes from the 'Vida em Movimento' project, which serves individuals aged 60 and older, attended to serve as role models for the children.
Promoted by the Araucária City Hall through the Municipal Secretariat of Sport and Leisure (SMEL) and supported by the Municipal Secretariat of Education (SMED), the initiative aims to use sports as a tool for social integration, cooperation, and healthy recreation.
