Arber Xhekaj watches brother's fight from penalty box

During Montreal Canadiens split-squad preseason games, defenseman Arber Xhekaj was seen watching a video of his younger brother, Florian Xhekaj, fighting on a mobile phone while serving a penalty in Montreal.

The brothers were playing in different cities during the simultaneous games; Arber was at the Bell Centre in Montreal while Florian was playing in Toronto against the Maple Leafs. While Arber was in the penalty box for a roughing penalty, a staff member showed him footage of Florian’s fight with Toronto defenseman Marshall Rifai. Arber later commented that the fight was “sick” and good for his brother.

Florian Xhekaj, who is competing for a permanent roster spot, recorded an assist and several physical plays during his limited ice time. The Canadiens won both preseason matchups, defeating Toronto 4-3 in overtime in Montreal and 4-1 in Toronto.
