Arbitrum launches USDG growth program and proposes governance fail-safes
Arbitrum is implementing several strategic initiatives to expand its ecosystem and strengthen governance. A central focus is the Stablecoin Growth Program, which aims to increase the liquidity and utility of the USDG stablecoin. This program includes a 2 million ARB reward pool designed to incentivize the first ten projects that reach a 30-day average total value locked (TVL) of $10 million in USDG.
In conjunction with this, a proposal is currently under review by the Arbitrum DAO to allocate an additional 100 million ARB to the DeFi incentive program, DRIP, to further support USDG adoption. This proposal also suggests converting Arbitrum Expansion Program (AEP) fee revenues into USDG to support its growth.
Beyond stablecoin expansion, the Arbitrum DAO is considering a constitutional improvement proposal to establish an L1 Voting Recovery System. This mechanism would serve as a fail-safe, allowing delegates to execute governance proposals directly on the Ethereum Layer 1 if the Layer 2 governance machinery becomes unresponsive or fails due to systemic disruptions.
