ARC Raiders developer Embark Studios weighs system changes and major updates

Embark Studios is preparing for the ‘Frozen Trail’ update for ARC Raiders, scheduled for release on October 8, 2026. While the developer has officially confirmed new weapons and personalization options, unconfirmed leaks suggest the update may include Level 5 weapon upgrades, armor-piercing ammunition, full-auto augments, universal scopes, and new enemy types.

Separately, Executive Producer Aleksander Grøndal indicated that the current Expeditions system is under review. In an interview, Grøndal stated that the team is considering scrapping the system entirely to focus on making the endgame more rewarding, following player feedback regarding underwhelming rewards and short departure windows. The fifth Expedition is set to conclude on September 29, 2026, marking a long hiatus for the feature while the developers finalize their decision.
