Arc Raiders matchmaking overhaul may increase queue times

Embark Studios released Store Update 1.38.0 for the extraction shooter Arc Raiders, introducing a revised matchmaking algorithm. The change aims to pair players with others who share similar playstyles and squad sizes, improving match quality in low‑population hours, certain regions and specific map conditions. The studio noted that the algorithm now "works harder" to find suitable opponents, which can result in longer queue times.

Developers highlighted that earlier this year they separated matchmaking for solo, duo and trio players, and the new system continues to refine those groupings. Despite a recent decline in the active player base, Embark expects a strong comeback with a major update planned for October 2026. Player feedback remains central, with the studio promising ongoing monitoring and further adjustments.
