ARC Team USA selects first six sailors for America’s Cup campaign
ARC Team USA, a newly formed challenger for the upcoming America’s Cup in Naples, Italy, has announced its first six sailors. The initial squad includes Lucas Calabrese, Riley Gibbs, Hans Henken, Harry Melges IV, Michael Menninger, and Louisa Nordstrom.
The selected athletes possess experience from the Olympics, SailGP, and previous America’s Cup competitions. Under current regulations, teams are required to include at least one female athlete in the crew of their AC75 foiling monohulls.
Sailing director Giles Scott, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, stated that the group provides a strong foundation for the campaign. The team is preparing to compete alongside Australia, Britain, France, Italy, and Switzerland for the right to challenge the defending champions, New Zealand, in July 2027.
