Arca Continental and PetStar open new PET recycling center in Chihuahua

Arca Continental and PetStar have inaugurated a new PET collection center in Chihuahua, Mexico, representing an investment of 26 million pesos. The facility is designed to strengthen local recycling infrastructure and promote a circular economy by reducing food-grade PET waste.

The center has the capacity to recover more than 1,200 tons of PET annually, which is equivalent to approximately 54 million bottles. This recovered material will be transported to the PetStar recycling plant in Toluca, State of Mexico, to be transformed into food-grade recycled resin for new packaging.

The project aims to integrate 30 collection partners, primarily micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and is expected to generate approximately 650 indirect jobs for urban collectors. Additionally, the site includes the ‘Salón Vive PetStar,’ an educational space intended to demonstrate the recycling process to students, authorities, and the community.
