Rossano fireworks fire destroys over 500 olive trees

Four individuals have been reported to the Prosecutor's Office of Castrovillari following a major fire in Rossano, Calabria, that destroyed over 500 olive trees. The incident occurred on August 15 during the religious celebrations for the Madonna dell’Achiropita.

Investigations by the Carabinieri Forestali indicate that the fire was triggered by fireworks used at the conclusion of the festivities. Technical surveys revealed that incandescent particles and debris from the pyrotechnic displays were projected onto the ground, igniting dry herbaceous vegetation in a private olive grove located in the Pollice-Santa Maria delle Grazie area.

Authorities have seized the pyrotechnic materials and the affected land. The reported individuals include the organizer of the festival and the three people who physically ignited the fireworks.
