Arca releases experimental pop album “XXXXX”
Venezuelan musician and producer Alejandra Ghersi, known as Arca, issued her first full-length album in five years, titled “XXXXX”, on XL Recordings. The record pushes experimental pop into new territory, blending deconstructed club beats, orchestral passages, distorted electronics and intimate vocals. Opening with the 91‑second “No End”, the album moves through tracks such as “Willow”, “Heart”, “Raver”, “Fxck” and the closing “Sueño”, each showcasing shifting structures and multilingual lyricism. Critics note that the work explores themes of identity and technology, with vocals that fracture and multiply to suggest fluid selfhood. While retaining Arca’s signature avant‑garde edge, the album also offers more accessible melodies, making it both unsettling and emotionally resonant.
