Arca Tierra wins Latin America’s 50 Best Champions of Change Award
Arca Tierra has been named the recipient of the 2026 Champions of Change Award by Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants. Founded by brothers Lucio and Pablo Usobiaga, the Mexican initiative is recognized for its efforts to revive and protect the ancient chinampas of Xochimilco in Mexico City.
The project focuses on small-scale traditional farming to ensure eco-friendly food production while supporting local peasant communities. By utilizing the pre-Hispanic agricultural islands known as chinampas, Arca Tierra aims to produce high-quality food that respects the environment and strengthens local consumption.
The Champions of Change Award, which is sponsored by S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, marks the second time this recognition has been presented. The award highlights initiatives that foster positive change and progress within the gastronomy and hospitality sectors across Latin America.
