ARCA warns of phishing scam targeting taxpayers in Argentina

The Agencia de Recaudación y Control Aduanero (ARCA) has issued an urgent alert regarding a new phishing scam targeting taxpayers. Cybercriminals are sending fraudulent emails that mimic the official appearance of the agency to notify individuals of a supposed international package being held at customs.

The scam demands payments of approximately $200,000 to release the alleged shipment. Additionally, criminals require victims to upload photographs of both sides of their National Identity Document (DNI) under the guise of verifying ownership. Authorities warn that obtaining these images allows attackers to commit identity theft, open virtual bank accounts, and apply for unauthorized loans.

ARCA advises that all formal communications are conducted exclusively through the Electronic Tax Domicile (Domicilio Fiscal Electrónico). Citizens are urged not to click on links provided in emails or instant messaging apps and to verify information through official government portals.
