Arcadi España suggests tax increases to fund transport investment

Spanish Finance Minister Arcadi España has indicated that tax increases may be necessary to fund additional investment in the nation's high-speed rail and commuter networks. Speaking at the Fórum Europa Tribuna Mediterránea in Valencia, España noted that the country requires increased investment in transport infrastructure, including Adif and Cercanías services.

The minister contrasted the current administration's budget execution, which he stated is above 90%, with the fiscal policies of opposition parties. He argued against promises of mass revenue cuts, suggesting that such measures would conflict with the need for public investment. These comments come amid political tension following the resignation of Óscar Puente after a railway tragedy in Urda and ahead of the upcoming elections on November 29.
