ArcelorMittal to donate Pavilhão OCA to PUC Minas
ArcelorMittal and BCMF Arquitetos are donating the Pavilhão OCA to PUC Minas following its showcase at CASACOR Minas. The 160m² open structure is located in the historic gardens of PUC Minas Lourdes.
The pavilion design draws inspiration from the Brazilian indigenous oca, aiming to create a collective shelter integrated with nature. A central feature of the project is the aesthetic use of steel rebar, which is typically hidden within concrete. The structure utilizes 2.3 tons of XCarb® steel, which is produced using 100% metal scrap and 100% renewable electricity to support decarbonization efforts in the construction industry.
The official handover ceremony is scheduled for September 11, involving representatives from ArcelorMittal, PUC Minas, and CASACOR Minas.
