Arcfox electric SUV secures 10,000 pre-orders in two hours

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Arcfox has seen significant market traction with its new Alpha T7 maxi SUV, which secured 10,000 pre-orders within two hours of launch. The vehicle features an 84.8 kWh battery produced by CATL, offering a range of 715 km under the CLTC cycle. Its 800-volt architecture allows for rapid charging, capable of increasing battery capacity from 30% to 80% in approximately 15 minutes.

In addition to the Alpha T7, Arcfox is developing new options for its more affordable models, such as the Beta T1, to increase accessibility. According to filings with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the company is working on integrating CATL’s Choco-SEB battery swapping system. This technology allows drivers to swap depleted batteries for charged ones in minutes, bypassing traditional charging wait times.

To further lower entry costs, Arcfox is exploring a battery-as-a-service model where consumers can rent batteries rather than purchasing them upfront. This strategy could significantly reduce the initial purchase price of vehicles, potentially bringing models like the Beta T1 down to a starting price of approximately $7,000.
