Arch Manning emerges as Heisman favorite for Texas

Texas quarterback Arch Manning has emerged as a preseason Heisman Trophy favorite following a strong performance at the end of last season. During the final stretch of the previous campaign, Manning averaged 285.7 passing yards and 3.3 total touchdowns per game, helping lead the Longhorns to a College Football Playoff appearance.

While Manning has faced significant scrutiny due to his family legacy and high expectations, SEC defensive coordinators have offered support, noting that he has handled the pressure well and possesses high-level velocity and accuracy. The Texas offense, led by coach Steve Sarkisian, appears bolstered by new additions including Auburn transfer wide receiver Cam Coleman and running back Hollywood Smothers.

Manning is currently projected as a top NFL prospect and is featured prominently in 2027 mock drafts. His upcoming season begins with a matchup against Texas State on September 5, followed by a high-stakes game against Ohio State.
