Archaeological discoveries at Apollonia Temple in Albania
Archaeological excavations at the Temple of Columns in Apollonia have yielded new data regarding the site's ancient heritage. A joint Albanian, German, and Romanian mission has verified the full layout of the temple.
Findings indicate that reused blocks in the foundation suggest the structure may date back earlier than the 4th century BC. Architectural fragments and marble tiles highlight the significance of this Doric-style monument, which was situated above the river port of Apollonia. The research is being conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Archaeology in Tirana and the Winckelmann Institute of the Humboldt University of Berlin.
