Archaeological discovery in England and morgue oversight in France

Archaeologist Michael Legge has reconstructed the history of an Iron Age and early Roman cemetery in Highsted, near Sittingbourne, England. Discovered in 1955, the site was considered lost after its artifacts were dispersed into private collections and its records vanished. Through a detective-like investigation of old photographs, newspaper clippings, and witness accounts, Legge identified the site as potentially the third-largest Deal-rite cemetery in Britain.

In a separate incident in France, an investigation has revealed that the remains of Michel Menard, a reclusive man who died in 2012, remained in a morgue at the University Medical Center in Toulouse for 14 years. Despite the hospital notifying local authorities of his death, no funeral was arranged. The case came to light during a judicial probe into irregularities at the Toulouse morgue.
