Archaeological excavations reveal ancient findings in Spain

Archaeological excavations are underway at two distinct sites in Spain, yielding new insights into ancient settlements.

At Motilla del Azuer in Daimiel, a new annual campaign is focusing on the habitat and necropolis of Bronze Age populations that settled near the river valley four millennia ago. The project aims to expand the definition of ancient dwellings and study the symbolic nature of burials. Early findings from the current campaign include ceramic remains and lithic tools used in production.

In Son Servera, researchers at the Son Sard site have uncovered remains of a Roman building, identified by an opus signinum pavement. This marks the first Roman building discovered at the site since 2012. Additionally, excavations in the Andalusi-era necropolis have documented several graves, including one adult tomb carved into the bedrock that shows a high state of preservation.
