Archaeological exhibition arrives in Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica

The archaeological exhibition ‘Fragmentos de nuestra historia’ (Fragments of our history) has arrived in Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica. Hosted at the Complejo Cultural in San Isidro de El General, the event is a collaborative effort between the National Museum and the Municipality of Pérez Zeledón.

The temporary display features 90 archaeological pieces selected from a collection of 395 items repatriated primarily from the United States in 2024. The artifacts offer a view into over 2,500 years of Costa Rican history, illustrating the daily life, social organization, and technologies of indigenous peoples.

Key items in the collection include polychrome vessels, ceremonial metates, human and zoomorphic sculptures, green stones, lithic tools, and a stone sphere. This exhibition follows previous stops in the Cuartel Bellavista and Osa, and is available to the public free of charge.
