Archaeological projects advance at Roman sites in Basilicata and Rimini

New archaeological initiatives are underway at several historic Roman sites in Italy. In Basilicata, the Roman Villa of San Giovanni a Ruoti has become the focus of a high-profile scientific project. This follows decades of inactivity after initial excavations began in 1977. The current research is a collaborative effort involving the Municipality of Ruoti, the University of Basilicata, and the University of Macerata, under the authorization of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape of Basilicata.

In Rimini, the Roman Amphitheatre is slated for further scientific investigation and potential restoration. Following an institutional visit by the Undersecretary for Culture, plans are being discussed to integrate new archaeological surveys with urban planning. These efforts aim to balance historical preservation with public accessibility, building upon recent archival and bibliographic studies conducted by archaeologists.
